Which Daikin models work with Elewatt via Onecta?

Any Daikin heat pump or air-conditioning unit that supports the Daikin Onecta app (formerly Daikin Residential Controller) and is paired with your Onecta account. This includes most Altherma, Stylish, Perfera and Sensira series from roughly 2018 onward. If your unit shows up in the Onecta app it can be controlled by Elewatt.

Is it safe to switch a heat pump on and off based on electricity price?

Yes, when done sensibly. We recommend switching the operating mode and target temperature instead of turning the device fully off every cycle — for example, dropping to a lower setpoint during peak hours rather than power-cycling the unit. This is gentler on the inverter compressor and keeps the home thermally buffered. Modern Daikin heat pumps are designed for smart-grid scheduling and handle frequent setpoint changes well. Elewatt schedules in 15-minute or 1-hour blocks rather than rapid cycling, and you can set minimum on/off durations in the price filter to protect the compressor.

Will I lose comfort if my heat pump only runs during cheap hours?

Not if your home has typical thermal inertia. Walls, floors and especially underfloor heating act as a thermal battery: heat charged during cheap hours coasts your indoor temperature through expensive hours. Elewatt also lets you set a minimum runtime per day so comfort is never compromised.

Do I need any extra hardware?

No. As long as your Daikin is connected to your home Wi-Fi and visible in the Onecta app, Elewatt talks to it through the official Daikin Onecta cloud API — no smart plug, relay or local hub required.

How long does setup take?

Most users complete setup in 10–20 minutes: 5 minutes to pair the heat pump in the Onecta app, 5 minutes to create your Elewatt account and price filter, and 5 minutes to authorise the Onecta integration and link the device.

Does this work alongside Daikin's own scheduling?

Yes. Elewatt sets the on/off schedule based on price; your Daikin's own thermostat, climate curve and target temperatures keep working as before. You can disable Elewatt's schedule at any time from the Elewatt dashboard and the heat pump will revert to its standard behaviour.

Set up your Daikin heat pump in the Onecta app

Download the Daikin Onecta app (iOS or Android) and follow the in-app pairing wizard to connect your heat pump to your home Wi-Fi. Make sure to assign it a name you'll recognise (e.g. 'Heat Pump') and confirm that you can see live status and adjust temperatures from the app.

Create a Contract and Price Filter in Elewatt

In Elewatt, go to Contracts and add your electricity tariff. Then go to Filters and create a new price filter — this defines when you want the heat pump to run based on the electricity spot price or the cheapest hours of the day.

Authenticate with Daikin Onecta

In Elewatt, go to Integrations → Daikin Onecta and click Connect. You'll be redirected to Daikin to sign in with your Onecta account and authorise Elewatt. After approval you'll be sent back to Elewatt — your paired heat pump will appear in the device list automatically.

Link your Daikin to the price filter

In Elewatt under Integrations → Daikin Onecta, find your heat pump and select the price filter you created. Elewatt will now calculate the optimal on/off schedule each day based on tomorrow's electricity prices and push it to the device through the Onecta cloud.
