No. Once Elewatt pushes a schedule to your Shelly device, the schedule is stored locally on the device and executes independently — even if your router or internet goes down. Internet is only needed when Elewatt syncs a new schedule (once per day, in the afternoon after Nord Pool prices are published).

Are Shelly devices reliable for frequent on/off switching?

Yes. Shelly relays are rated for 100,000+ switching operations — at one switch per day that is 270+ years of use. They are widely used in professional home-automation and commercial installations. Resistive loads like heaters and water heaters are the easiest possible load for a relay.

Is my data secure when using Shelly with Elewatt?

Elewatt communicates with your Shelly devices exclusively through the official Shelly Cloud API using your personal API key. No third party has access to your device. Your device itself operates on your local Wi-Fi network and can work entirely offline after a schedule is pushed.

Which Shelly devices work with Elewatt?

Accepted Answer

Any Shelly device that supports the Shelly Cloud API and has a schedule feature works with Elewatt — including Shelly Plug S Gen3, Plus 1PM, Pro 3, Pro 4PM, and others. The Shelly Plug S Gen3 is the easiest starting point: no wiring, plug and play, up to 2.5 kW.

Can I use Elewatt without any Shelly device?

Yes. Elewatt also works as a price monitoring and notification tool — you can track real-time spot prices, set up alerts when prices drop below a threshold, and view your historical electricity costs. Smart device control is an optional add-on for those who want full automation.

What happens if Shelly Cloud is unavailable when Elewatt tries to push a schedule?

Accepted Answer

Elewatt retries automatically. If Shelly Cloud is temporarily unreachable, your device keeps running its previous schedule from the day before until a new one is successfully pushed.
